Lakonia introduces local white-grape discoveries such as Kidonitsa alongside the southeast Peloponnese’s historic sweet-wine story.
Quince and citrus notes with a fresh yet rounded palate; lees ageing can add texture in some examples.
PGI Lakonia offers a wider range of wines than the sweet PDO Monemvasia–Malvasia. Dry Kidonitsa is a rewarding local discovery, with Monemvasia and other regional grapes adding further interest. A bottle from this district is therefore not automatically a sweet Malvasia wine. Follow the specific designation, grape and wine type to explore the contrast between a fresh dry white and a concentrated sun-dried speciality.
