Bannockburn gives Pinot Noir a warmer, drier Central Otago setting, with vineyard terraces beside the Kawarau arm of Lake Dunstan.
Cherry, plum and savoury spice with a dry palate and fine tannic structure.
Citrus, orchard fruit and flowers with lively acidity; sweetness varies.
Bannockburn is a registered wine GI within Central Otago, with a defined boundary rather than a name for every vineyard near Cromwell. Its terraces and slopes contain varied soils and exposures. Pinot Noir offers an inviting introduction, while Riesling and other whites show another side of the area. The GI protects geographical origin without prescribing a single grape or flavour. A vineyard and producer’s methods help explain differences between individual wines.
