Markgräflerland gives Gutedel a distinctive German home, with fresh whites in the warm southwest of Baden.
Chasselas.
Apple, citrus and gentle flowers with a dry, supple palate and restrained acidity.
Pinot Noir.
Red cherry, berries and gentle spice with freshness and fine tannins.
Markgräflerland is a Baden wine district with its own local traditions. Gutedel, the same grape known elsewhere as Chasselas, offers an especially inviting introduction, while Spätburgunder adds a red-wine route. The district is broader than one town or soil type. Producer choices can make a substantial difference to texture and depth, so compare a simple fresh white with more ambitious bottlings through their actual vineyard and winemaking details.
