Nebbiolo.
Dried cherry, flowers and spice with a dry, concentrated palate, firm tannins and warming depth.
Sforzato, also known as Sfursat, is a DOCG red made principally from Nebbiolo, locally called Chiavennasca. Selected grapes are dried before fermentation, concentrating the fruit and building a fuller wine. Despite that drying stage, the finished wine is dry: it should not be confused with a sweet passito. Compare it with Valtellina Superiore to explore two different approaches to the valley’s signature grape and terraced landscape.
