Khikhvi is a Georgian white grape worth discovering for its aromatic detail, whether made as a fresh white or a textured amber wine.
Floral and orchard-fruit aromas with freshness and a gently rounded palate.
Dried peach, herbs and tea-like notes with amber colour and a dry, grippy palate.
Khikhvi is a grape name, not a separate protected place called Khikhvi. It is one of the white varieties permitted in Kakheti’s protected wines and can also contribute to particular local appellations. Fresh white winemaking highlights fruit and floral aromas; skin contact can add amber colour, tannin and dried-fruit complexity. Qvevri describes a clay vessel, while the amount of skin contact explains much of the texture. Read the bottle’s actual origin and method to understand its individual expression.
