Silvaner
Franken’s VDP estates offer a vineyard-focused route into Silvaner and the region’s distinctive village wines.
Often subtle in aroma, with orchard fruit, savoury detail and a textured dry palate; expression varies by vineyard and maturation.
This is a guide to Franken within the VDP association, not a separate protected appellation. Its classified vineyard wines sit within a wider regional landscape that includes many non-member growers. Silvaner is a natural starting point, and vineyard names help distinguish limestone sites near the Main from Keuper settings further east. Read classification, grape and sweetness together rather than treating the VDP name as a complete tasting description.
