About Kindzmarauli

Where it grows

In Kvareli municipality on the left-bank side of the Alazani Valley, beneath the Greater Caucasus foothills.

Kindzmarauli is a protected name for naturally semi-sweet red wine based on Saperavi and its permitted Budeshuri-like form. It is distinct from dry Kvareli and Mukuzani, even when the same producer makes them all. The sweetness belongs to the finished wine style and does not imply fortification. A deep colour and ripe fruit are useful starting points, balanced by acidity and tannin. Check the full origin statement when choosing among a winery’s different Saperavi wines.
