Saperavi.
Blackberry, plum and savoury spice with a dry palate and firm tannins.
Mukuzani is a protected origin for dry red wine made from Saperavi. Its name identifies the growing area, rather than a separate grape or a general term for Georgian red wine. Fruit concentration, tannin and ageing choices can give the wines a substantial presence at the table. Compare Mukuzani with a naturally semi-sweet Saperavi origin such as Akhasheni to appreciate why the full label matters. A producer’s oak and bottle-ageing choices add further differences within the same protected name.
