Syrah, sometimes co-fermented with a little Viognier.
Violet, berries and pepper, with fine tannins and savoury or smoky complexity.
A little Viognier may be fermented with Syrah, but the wine remains red. Côte-Rôtie means roasted slope, a name for its sun-catching hillsides.
