Matelica’s Verdicchio DOC belongs to an inland valley landscape rather than the broader Jesi hill setting towards the coast. Verdicchio leads its white wines, with different wine types providing more detail. The separate riserva DOCG follows its own requirements. Producer, vintage and cellar choices influence texture and aromatic development, so the appellation is a geographical and production framework rather than a promise of one fixed flavour.
