Horse Heaven Hills combines a broad Columbia River landscape with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and expressive white wines.
Dark berries, cassis and herbs with ripe fruit and a dry, structured finish.
Citrus and stone fruit with a rounded palate and freshness; oak influence varies.
Horse Heaven Hills AVA occupies a large area with several vineyard settings, rather than one hillside or estate. Wind, river proximity and differences in elevation help distinguish its sites. Cabernet Sauvignon is an inviting red-wine entry point, while Chardonnay and Riesling reveal further range. A named vineyard brings more precision to the broad origin. The AVA supplies geography, leaving grape choices, blending and ageing to the producer.
