Vernaccia di Oristano invites a deeper look at Sardinia’s traditions of carefully aged white wine.
Almond, dried fruit and savoury complexity can develop through traditional ageing; sweetness varies.
Vernaccia di Oristano DOC is based on the local Vernaccia grape and is separate from Tuscany’s Vernaccia di San Gimignano. Traditional ageing in partly filled wooden vessels can develop complex, nutty aromas, sometimes with a yeast veil. The wine range also includes liquoroso types. These are wines to explore by producer, ageing and sweetness rather than colour alone.
