Nahe is the protected wine origin along the Nahe river and its vineyard valleys in Germany.
Citrus and orchard-fruit flavours with fresh acidity. Sweetness, texture and maturity depend on the individual wine.
The legal Nahe protected designation of origin is distinct from the VDP growers’ association. Riesling is a useful starting point, with dry, off-dry and sweet wines as well as Pinot-family styles in the wider region. A village or registered vineyard adds detail to the regional origin; it does not determine sweetness. The official protected-origin delimitation defines the growing area. An estate’s address alone does not establish where its grapes were grown.
