Duras, Fer Servadou, Syrah.
Red and dark berries with peppery herbs, freshness and a dry, structured finish.
Len de l’El, Mauzac.
Apple, pear and floral notes with a fresh, dry palate.
Mauzac.
Apple and orchard-fruit notes with lively bubbles; sweetness varies by wine.
Gaillac AOP offers several distinct wine types. Duras, Fer Servadou, Prunelard and Syrah give the reds a local voice, while Len de l’El, Mauzac and other grapes lead the whites. Mauzac also makes ancestral-method sparkling wine, in which a fermentation finishes in bottle. That differs from a second-fermentation traditional method. Read colour, sweetness and method together: a fresh white, a sweet wine and a sparkling Gaillac are different experiences.
