Bizkaiko Txakolina covers more than a single light white style. Hondarrabi Zuri and Hondarrabi Zuri Zerratia, also called Petit Courbu, are useful grapes to look for, and lees ageing can bring extra texture. These are distinct varieties rather than two spellings for one grape. Coastal and inland sites differ, and rosé and red expressions add to the picture. A txakoli label alone does not promise bubbles.
