Roma DOC brings several of Lazio’s grapes together under the capital’s name.
Malvasia del Lazio, Bellone, Trebbiano Giallo.
White flowers, orchard fruit and citrus; sweetness varies with the labelled type.
Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Cesanese Comune.
Dark berries and spice with a substantial red-wine structure.
Roma DOC is a vineyard origin, not a statement that a wine was grown inside Rome’s historic centre. Malvasia del Lazio leads the bianco, while Montepulciano leads the red and rosé blends. Named-grape and sparkling types add further choices. Look for the complete wine type to distinguish the many expressions behind this familiar city name.
