Snipes Mountain gives a small Yakima Valley origin its own identity, with upland vineyards and a broad grape-growing tradition.
Citrus and orchard fruit with freshness and a gently layered palate.
Blackcurrant, cherry and herbal notes with firm tannins and a dry finish.
Snipes Mountain AVA identifies elevated land above the surrounding valley floor. Its vineyard soils and long planting history distinguish the area within Yakima Valley, while Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot offer accessible tasting routes. The geographical name is not a restriction to one grape. A specific vineyard can add another layer to the story, particularly when comparing wines bearing the smaller AVA with broadly labelled Yakima or Columbia Valley bottles.
