About Marlborough

Marlborough wine country at the northeastern end of New Zealand’s South Island is famous for vivid Sauvignon Blanc, but it also rewards exploration through Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, aromatic whites and traditional-method sparkling wine. Around Blenheim, river plains, hillside vineyards and coastal influences create different growing settings within the registered Marlborough geographical indication. Wairau Valley offers a broad range of vineyard expressions, the Southern Valleys include clay-rich sites valued for Pinot Noir, and Awatere Valley reveals a cooler, windier landscape. Start with a grape you enjoy, then compare a subregion or vineyard name. Sauvignon Blanc can range from bright and zesty to more textured expressions, while aromatic varieties may be dry or sweeter; the producer’s style description helps place the bottle.
