Buttafuoco combines the red grapes of Oltrepò Pavese in a structured blend with dark fruit, freshness and hillside character.
Barbera and Croatina lead, with Uva Rara and Vespolina among the permitted partners; blends vary.
Dark cherry, berries and spice with a dry palate, fresh acidity and firm tannins.
Buttafuoco DOC, also named Buttafuoco dell’Oltrepò Pavese, brings Barbera and Croatina together with permitted supporting grapes including Uva Rara and Vespolina. It is a dry red identity, distinct from the area’s sweet Sangue di Giuda wines. Blend and cellar choices shape its balance of fruit, acidity and tannin. The full denomination on the label is a more useful guide than treating every Oltrepò red as the same style.
