Ormesasco (Dolcetto)
Pornassio reveals Ormeasco reds and the distinctive pink Sciac-trà of Liguria’s western hinterland.
Fresh red and dark fruit with gentle bitterness and a firm but approachable structure.
A fresh pink expression with red-fruit notes; it is distinct from Cinque Terre’s sweet Sciacchetrà.
Ormeasco is the local name for Dolcetto, giving Pornassio a different red-wine identity from nearby Rossese. The DOC includes red wines and Sciac-trà, a rosé. That pink wine is distinct from the sweet white Cinque Terre Sciacchetrà on the opposite side of Liguria. Compare wine type and ageing to explore a fresh local expression or a more developed red.
Pornassio/Ormeasco di Pornassio DOC. 1 wine in Ontario.
