Monemvasia–Malvasia revives a historic sweet-wine tradition through sun-dried white grapes and oxidative ageing.
Monemvasia, Assyrtiko, Kidonitsa.
Concentrated dried-fruit, honey and sweet-spice notes shaped by sun drying and oxidative ageing; a representative blend, not an exhaustive variety list.
The modern PDO is a defined sweet-white-wine origin, not a generic name for every Malvasia grape or wine. Monemvasia leads the blend, with Assyrtiko, Asproudes and Kidonitsa among the other permitted grapes. Sun-dried fruit and oxidative ageing give it a distinctive profile; both naturally sweet and fortified forms exist. Its historical inspiration connects it with medieval trade, while the present denomination has its own rules and geographical scope.
