Puget Sound reveals Washington’s maritime wine side, with aromatic whites and early-ripening reds west of the Cascades.
Flowers, ripe orchard fruit and aromatic spice with a fresh palate.
Red berries and floral notes with light texture, freshness and gentle tannins.
Puget Sound AVA is geographically and climatically distinct from the state’s dry inland appellations. Cooler conditions suit grapes such as Madeleine Angevine, Siegerrebe and Pinot Noir in suitable sites. Wineries in the wider Seattle area also commonly use eastern Washington fruit, so a local cellar address is not proof of Puget Sound-grown grapes. Follow the AVA on the wine label when exploring the region’s own vineyard expressions.
