Vernaccia di Serrapetrona DOCG is a sparkling red wine, distinct from white wines called Vernaccia elsewhere in Italy. Vernaccia Nera is the principal grape, and part of the fruit is dried before the wine’s distinctive sequence of fermentations. Secco and dolce create different sweetness experiences. The separate Serrapetrona DOC identifies a still red. Read the complete denomination and sweetness wording to choose between these related local traditions.
