Vesuvio offers a volcanic Campanian wine journey, with Caprettone-led whites and Piedirosso-led reds among the mountain’s vineyard slopes.
Caprettone.
Citrus, orchard fruit and herbal notes with freshness and a gently textured palate.
Piedirosso.
Cherry, red berries and savoury herbs with a fresh, dry finish.
Vesuvio DOC includes several wine types, with Lacryma Christi wording identifying specific expressions under the specification. The revised rules recognise Caprettone as a distinct white grape, rather than simply treating it as another name for Coda di Volpe. Piedirosso is important to the red side. Volcanic materials and site exposure provide context, while the producer and wine type explain the finished style. Read colour and the complete designation together.
