Casavecchia di Pontelatone introduces a distinctive Campanian red grape through a focused origin near Caserta.
Casavecchia.
Dark berries, plum and savoury herbs with a dry, substantial palate and firm tannins.
Casavecchia is the principal grape of this DOC, giving a local red-wine identity separate from the Aglianico-led origins elsewhere in Campania. Its name also appears as a variety under broader IGT labels, where the geographical rules differ. The Pontelatone denomination offers a more precise starting point for exploring the grape. Read the producer’s site and ageing choices to understand differences in fruit concentration and tannic structure.
