Mavrodaphne of Patras is a distinctive sweet fortified red, with local grapes and a tradition of wood ageing.
Mavrodaphne, Corinthian Black.
Rich dried-fruit and dark-fruit flavours with sweetness, tannin and wood-aged depth; the grapes listed are permitted blend components rather than fixed proportions.
This PDO is dedicated to sweet fortified red wine. Mavrodaphne leads the blend, with Corinthian Black also permitted, and wood ageing helps build its layered character. The grape Mavrodaphne is also used for dry wines under other origins; those are not the same wine type as this PDO. Read the complete name and ageing indication to distinguish a youthful dessert wine from a more mature expression.
