Vinho Verde is a diverse Portuguese wine origin, from fragrant whites to vivid reds and rosés.
Alvarinho, Loureiro, Arinto, Trajadura.
Citrus and floral notes with lively acidity; body, sweetness and spritz vary.
Deeply coloured red with dark fruit, pronounced acidity and firm texture.
Alvarinho, Arinto, Loureiro.
Fresh white fruit and citrus with bubbles; blend and sweetness vary.
Vinho Verde DOC is not simply a synonym for young, green-coloured or lightly sparkling white wine. It includes still wines of several colours and sparkling wines, with grapes and subregions shaping the differences. Alvarinho, Loureiro, Avesso and Arinto offer useful white-wine starting points, while Vinhão reveals the red tradition. Check the individual bottle for bubbles and sweetness.
