Alto Tirino is a historical Abruzzo IGT name that preserves the wine story of an inland Apennine valley.
Alto Tirino IGT was revoked from the 2010/11 wine year, so it is best read as an older label rather than a current IGT. The name remains relevant to Abruzzo’s vineyard geography and also appears as a subzone of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC. The two designations belong to different legal contexts. An older bottle can therefore tell a genuine local story without using today’s labelling system. Check its vintage and exact denomination to follow that history.
