Württembergisch Unterland leads into the vineyard landscapes around Heilbronn and the Neckar’s northern wine country.
Blaufränkisch.
A spicy, berry-fruited expression that may gain more structure and oak influence with extended maturation.
The Unterland name covers a broad wine landscape rather than one vineyard or recipe. River slopes and neighbouring hills support a range of local red varieties as well as white wines. Heilbronn and the surrounding wine towns are useful starting points for exploring it. Narrow the choice through the village, grape and vineyard on the bottle, especially when comparing a light everyday red with a more structured wine.
