Valle del Itata offers heritage vineyards and fresh interpretations of País, Cinsault and Moscatel.
Cinsault.
Fragrant red fruit and a supple, often lighter palate; extraction and ageing affect the final weight.
País.
Fresh red fruit with a rustic or savoury edge; the producer’s methods shape tannin and texture.
Itata is a legally defined wine subregion within Chile’s Sur region. Longstanding family vineyards make País, Cinsault and Moscatel de Alejandría rewarding starting points. Fresh reds sit alongside aromatic whites, skin-contact wines and other interpretations. The four named wine areas provide a closer geographical view. Vineyard age, farming and cellar methods vary, so those traditions are best explored producer by producer.
