Sagrantino
Montefalco Sagrantino gives Umbria a deeply structured red identity, with dry and sweet passito expressions of one local grape.
Dark berries, dried herbs and spice with a dry palate, firm tannins and depth.
Dried berries, plum and spice with concentrated sweetness, freshness and firm tannins.
Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG is made from Sagrantino and includes both secco and passito. The dry version is known for substantial tannins, while grape drying gives the sweet passito a different concentration and balance. Neither should be confused with Montefalco Rosso DOC, which is a Sangiovese-led blend containing Sagrantino.
