Colline di Levanto offers coastal whites and reds from the hills west of the Cinque Terre.
Vermentino.
A fresh white with citrus and gently almond-like notes; this is the named Vermentino type, not the broader bianco blend.
Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo.
Red-fruit flavours and a medium-bodied structure; a representative pairing with other permitted grapes possible.
Colline di Levanto is a separate DOC from Cinque Terre, despite their neighbouring coastal settings. Vermentino appears both in blends with local white grapes and as a named wine type. The reds draw on Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo. Compare the full designation, grape and wine type to explore these hills rather than assuming every bottle follows the better-known Cinque Terre blend.
