Basto introduces Vinho Verde’s inland hills, where Azal and red grapes find a distinctive setting.
Lemon, green apple and lively acidity, with ripeness softening the edges.
Padeiro.
Red berries and gentle floral notes with a fresh, approachable texture.
Basto is a named Vinho Verde subregion sheltered from direct maritime influence. Its more pronounced seasons suit late-ripening Azal, whose naturally brisk acidity remains part of the white-wine appeal. Vinhão, Espadeiro and Padeiro offer red and rosé discoveries. The Basto name describes a defined origin within Vinho Verde rather than a separate denomination.
