Montravel AOP includes dry white and red wines, with different grape and production requirements. Sauvignon, Sémillon and Muscadelle give white-wine routes, while Merlot and the Cabernet family lead the reds. Similar names nearby identify different sweet whites: Côtes de Montravel and Haut-Montravel are separate appellations. Read the full name and colour together to avoid confusing a dry table wine with the sweet-wine branches of the local story.
