Grüner Veltliner

Producer

Weingut Prager

Austria

Weingut Prager is a family-owned estate in Weissenkirchen in the Wachau, Niederösterreich, run by the Bodenstein family, with Toni and Ilse Bodenstein central to the winery and Robert Bodenstein also noted in winemaking. Its philosophy, "From Stone to Wine," emphasizes terroir and the character of individual Rieden, with a focus on Grüner Veltliner and Riesling from steep, terraced, mineral-rich vineyards along the Danube, including old-vine Stockkultur sites. Notes highlight careful vineyard work, hand-harvesting, and traditional methods. The estate also supports biodiversity through the Arche Noah project, preserving old Riesling and Grüner Veltliner clones, though no formal sustainability certification is cited.
