Vega del Rayo

Spain

Vega del Rayo, operating under Bodegas Rioja Vega in Rioja, is linked to the Boutinot group and farms a 60-hectare estate with distinctive stony soils. For more than two decades, the estate has pursued vineyard improvement and sustainability projects. It holds Sustainable Wineries for Climate Protection certification, Spain’s first winery-specific sustainability label, covering environmental, social, economic and governance criteria. Its practices include solar energy, drip irrigation, reduced phytosanitary inputs through sexual confusion and organic fertilisers, wastewater purification, precision viticulture, and preservation of local grape varieties and biodiversity.
