Rocca di Montegrossi

Italy

Rocca di Montegrossi is a family-owned estate in Chianti Classico, Tuscany, near Monti in Chianti, led by owner-winemaker Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi, a descendant of the historic Ricasoli family. Founded in 1994, the estate combines vineyards, olive groves, and woodland around the historic San Marcellino site. Farming is organic certified since 2010, with manual harvest, green manuring, and broader sustainable practices including renewable energy and photovoltaic power. The vineyards are planted mainly to Sangiovese on calcareous limestone and galestro soils at 340-510 meters altitude. In the cellar, the focus is on quality-minded, close-to-nature winemaking, including vegan and unfiltered wines, with consultant enologist Attilio Pagli also involved.
