Quinta de Couselo

Spain

Quinta Couselo is a historic, family-minded estate in O Rosal, Rías Baixas, with roots dating to 1864 and a location shaped by Atlantic influence near the Miño estuary. Since 2013, Galician native José Manuel Martínez Juste and his partners have managed the property from vine to bottle, with José Manuel crafting the wines. The estate farms Albariño, Caiño Blanco, and Loureira on schist soils, using sustainable practices that avoid herbicides and fungicides and limit sulfur and copper. Purchased vineyards are also overseen to protect the ecosystem, while photovoltaic panels supply much of the winery’s electricity. The resulting wines are deeply aromatic and rounded, reflecting the region’s gradual grape maturation and traditional, slow approach to winemaking.
