Nuevo Mundo

Chile

Family-owned Nuevo Mundo is run by the De Martino family, who have been settled in Isla de Maipo in Chile’s Maipo Valley since 1934. Its 110 hectares of vines have been farmed organically since 1997 and certified organic since 2001. The wines express the alluvial, gravelly soils and temperate Mediterranean climate of this distinctive site between the Andes and the Pacific, emphasizing sense of place, purity and balance. Winemaking is minimal intervention: native yeasts are used, must corrections are avoided, and wines are aged in stainless steel, concrete or neutral barrels. Whites are aged in stainless steel, while reds use concrete and neutral oak; selected parcels and older vines produce more complex, age-worthy wines.
