Founded in 2012 by Franz Hofbauer and Michael Linke, Grabenwerkstatt is based in the Spitzer Graben, in the northern Wachau of Niederösterreich. The winery is owned and operated by its founders, who bring winemaking experience from Austria, Germany, and New Zealand. Working according to a traditional, pre-industrial philosophy, they allow nature to guide vineyard management, harvesting, fermentation, and bottling, avoiding artificial interventions. Grabenwerkstatt is certified organic and sustainable, with these certifications permitted on its labels. Its wines reflect a hands-off approach rooted in the distinctive conditions of the Spitzer Graben.
