Producer

G.D. Vajra

Italy

G.D. Vajra is a family-owned Barolo estate in Piedmont, founded by Aldo Vajra in 1972 and still run by Aldo and Milena with their children Giuseppe, Francesca, and Isidoro. One of the early pioneers of organic farming in Piedmont, the estate has practiced certified organic viticulture since 1971 and also emphasizes sustainability, biodiversity, spontaneous cover crops, and intensive manual vineyard work. Its high-altitude vineyards around Barolo, including Bricco delle Viole, are noted for open exposures and strong day-night temperature shifts that favor slow ripening and aromatic finesse. The family’s approach combines tradition, research, and a clear preference for elegance and site expression.
