Forteto della Luja

Italy

Forteto della Luja is a family-owned estate in Loazzolo, Piedmont, run by Giovanni and Cristina Scaglione, with the Novelli Scaglione family farming here for generations and documented on the property since 1826. Based in the tiny Loazzolo DOC, the estate is closely identified with Moscato Passito, alongside dry Piedmontese wines. The steep vineyards are farmed organically and biodynamically, with certified organic status, manual vineyard work and harvest, only natural products and organic fertilisers, and measures to support biodiversity. Since 2007 it has been a WWF Oasis affiliate and is involved in the Boschi di Loazzolo natural reserve project. Historic cellars dating to the late 1700s and traditional appassimento for Moscato reinforce its deep local roots.
