Domaine du Closel

France

Domaine du Closel – Château des Vaults is a family-owned estate in Savennières, Loire Valley, with roots dating to 1495 and a lineage of women winemakers. Managed by Evelyne de Pontbriand since 2001, the domaine interprets south-west-facing schist slopes through Chenin wines shaped by research, tradition and innovation. Organic farming began in 2006, followed by full biodynamic certification from the 2015 vintage, with Ecocert, Demeter and Biodyvin certifications. Vineyard work emphasizes soil life, biodiversity and respect for natural rhythms. In the cellar, indigenous yeasts and long, natural lees ageing aim to express each vintage’s character, producing wines with roundness, silky texture and aromatic balance.
