Brennan is a family-owned and operated winery in Gibbston, Central Otago. The Brennan family acquired the land in the 1970s, and Dr. Sir Murray Brennan planted some of the region’s earliest vines in 1994. Wine production began in 2006, when Sean Brennan moved permanently to Gibbston; he now oversees the winemaking, alongside Emma Bennet since 2019. Their vineyards span varied soils and aspects, from alluvial flats to steep, stony slopes, while Gibbston’s higher elevation and cooler ripening conditions help retain aromatic qualities. Brennan is registered with New Zealand Sustainable Winegrowing and produces wines described as harmonising science, art, and a touch of magic.
