Producer

Bodega Marañones

Spain

Bodega Marañones is a reference producer in San Martín de Valdeiglesias, within Madrid’s Sierra de Gredos, where vineyards sit on granitic soils at roughly 650–850 metres. Its work centres on recovering old vineyards and expressing native Garnacha and Albillo Real, including wines classified by village, site and individual parcel. Viticulture follows organic and biodynamic principles, with Demeter certification, cover crops and careful attention to soil, biodiversity and the surrounding landscape. Through the VITICOS research project, developed with academic and environmental partners, the estate has studied soil organic carbon and erosion. Owner Fernando Cornejo and winemaker Fernando García have helped establish Marañones as a pioneering, quality-focused project in Gredos, producing fresh, delicate and elegant wines with a strong sense of place.
