Producer

Nortico

Portugal

Nortico is an Alvarinho project in Minho, sourcing fruit from tiny hand-managed vineyard plots in Monção and Melgaço. Many vines are very old, with plantings dating from 1910 onward, on granite soils at varied elevations. The vineyards are described as sustainably farmed with organic management, low-yield practices, and a farm-to-table approach, and the wines are made without added CO₂. Nortico is owned by Compañía de Vinos del Atlántico, founded by Alberto Orte and Patrick Mata, with Alberto Orte serving as chief winemaker. The project is also marketed in partnership with Rui Abecassis of Olé & Obrigado.
