Ansgar Cluesserath

Ansgar Clüsserath is a family-owned Mosel estate in Trittenheim, held by the Clüsserath family since 1670 and now led by Eva Clüsserath-Wittmann. The estate focuses on Riesling from named Middle Mosel sites, including Trittenheimer Apotheke, Altärchen, Neumagener Rosengärtchen and Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, with vines up to 100 years old. Traditional, ecologically sound viticulture includes meticulous handwork and harvesting. Wines are spontaneously fermented with native yeasts in traditional 1,000-litre Mosel fuder and given extended lees aging, followed by only a single filtration. The resulting Rieslings express the varied slate soils, exposures and steep slopes of the surrounding vineyards, with styles ranging from delicate and citrus-driven to full-bodied, exotic and mineral.
