Allesverloren

South Africa

Allesverloren is a historic Malan family estate on the stony Kasteelberg slopes of South Africa’s Swartland, in the Riebeek Valley. Established in 1704 and family-owned since 1872, it is now led by Danie Malan, a fifth-generation winemaker who is both farmer and owner. Vineyards on rocky Malmesbury shale and weathered sandstone benefit from cold, wet winters, warm, dry summers and cooling mountain winds. The estate focuses on red varieties, including Portuguese cultivars, and practices careful block selection, dryland farming and minimal-intervention winemaking. Traditional open fermenters are used alongside stainless steel, with wines shaped by terroir, concentration and firm structure. Its style draws on Old World traditions while allowing time, fruit and place to lead.
