Founded in 1969 by Elciego winegrowers, Viña Salceda is based in Elciego, Rioja Alavesa, and is now owned by Catalan group Grup Peralada. Its wines focus on expressing the contrasting terroirs of Alto Najerilla and La Sonsierra, combining freshness, balance and acidity from clay soils with the structure, volume and aromaticity associated with limestone sites. Vineyard work is manual, with no herbicides or pesticides, low yields and close plot supervision; the estate also emphasizes regenerative practices and biodiversity initiatives. Winemaking is directed by David González, with investments in premium oak, concrete eggs and vats to refine future cuvées. The range is contemporary and terroir-driven, while reflecting the diversity of Rioja’s varieties, soils and elevations.
