Domaine Equis

France

Domaine Equis is a family-owned Rhône Valley estate led by Maxime Graillot, who founded it in 2004 as a separate domaine from his father Alain Graillot’s. The boutique operation farms organically, with no synthetic inputs or herbicides, and uses regular deep-soil ploughing to encourage deep roots. Its vines include certified-organic, over-40-year-old Syrah planted on rocky gravel in Les Picheres. The estate focuses on approachable, joyful wines, including Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, and Cornas. Winemaking emphasizes indigenous yeasts, 30% whole-cluster fermentation, and aging in old neutral barrels, resulting in expressive, crowd-pleasing Syrah.
